The first intake session(s) is all about what is going on and why you think I can help you.
To do this I will need to know not only what is going on now, but also what has happened in the past. I will need to know about your partner, children (if you have them) but also about your parents and siblings etc. All these questions are necessary for me to make a ‘picture’ of you and your problem(s). (This information is of course kept just between you and me)
Also, a very important part of this intake is to see if can we work together.
Can you trust me enough to tell me everything that’s important?, and can I work with you? Without this counselling doesn’t work!
We may need more than one session to do the intake.
But when we are finished, we’ll make a plan together, covering what we are going to do and how many session we think you will need.
My goals is to help people in as short a time as possible.
An Example of how it works / how many sessions you possibly need:
Where grief or PTSD is caused by a single problem, we can work on it together and complete your treatment mostly within 4 to 5 sessions.
(Ali from Brisbane, one of the people I helped via E-Health (e-mail) said: "Ina's caring and encouraging 4 step program of concrete exercises one can work through at one's own pace, is an effective way to achieve a positive outcome after experiencing grief"(source review)).
At this stage I still have space available.
Prices:
Individual counselling; price per session is $ 75
Relationship/Couple counselling; price per session is $115
Prices include GST.
No Medicare rebate applies, but my prices are lower than the out-of-pocket prices indicated in the table below. Next to this, Medicare limits the total number of session rebates to 20 per calender year. I do not have a limit, should more sessions be necessary.
The current Australian Psychological Society recommended fees for psychological services per 01-08-2022 are $280 per hour.
Example fees from another provider, "psych connect" (shown below) are significantly less than this, but still more than what I ask.
